The paper sachet contains ascorbic acid which reacts on contact with air to produce the microaerobic conditions for the growth of microaerophilic organisms. The reaction of ascorbic acid with oxygen is exothermic. However, the temperature of the CampyGen Compact paper sachet will not exceed 65°C.
